
Do you have a crisis plan?
-You are an engineer and working at production or dispatch. You may face a crisis in an important and large operation. For example, the contractor can reject the concrete! What do you do in such a situation?
-Who may claim that the problem have arised due to this or that reason and department. Or more importantly, who can accept and say that the fault belong to him.
-In the above and similar crisis situations, as a junior manager, you must be able to control your nerves and remain calm and quickly evaluate the things that may happen next. In the meantime, it is important to establish versatile communication and add your own comments to the theirs.
-Have you done a case study or simulation on this subject? If you are not prepared, you can not take action on time. You can offer such a meeting covering all related departments to the management, of course before any crisis have not occured. But first you should be ready for your speech at the meeting!
-Junior managers who do not have enough experience and not take their position seriously can create a chain effect on the employees, leading to a lack of direction, demotivation, a breakdown in communication and trust and for sure create unacceptable and a terrible work environment.
-The term of chain or domino effect is often used for interconnected events such as machine collapse or malfunctions or series of accidents or wrong mix the recipe of concrete and also can be used to predict future events. A chain reaction is the umulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events.
-Concrete delivery in the summer season or in the hot weather, long distance and tough traffic, long waiting time for mixers at the construction site, fatality accident at construction site, malfunction on batching plant, insufficient inventory, problems at the concrete pump, returned concrete, unpaid money, concrete spill on road rash, etc.
-These are some crisis which may happen anytime at readymix industry. And should definetely be studied according to season, condition and suspection in order to be ready for crisis management.
