Sales:
-You are an engineer and working at a readymix concrete company as a member of sales force. You represent the company and do business on behalf of the boss. Use the sales skills and turn the opportunities into money!
-Courses on sales and marketing are not taught in engineering education at the universities or only as optional. However, most engineers work in this field after graduation. And the readymix industry is one of these.
After challenging maths and physics subjects, selling are thought to be simple and consist of only customer communications and visits. However, as in every professional field, sales has certain rules, principles and therefore needs training.
Selling is not something that can be learned by being together and going customer with the old salesman! This takes time and leads to repetition and also bad habits. Sales is something dynamic and always renewing.
Marketing:
-The majority of engineers see the marketing as either ‘selling’ or ‘generating customer preference for’ a given product or service.
There is no definite description for marketing. However any company’s marketing activity must include the followings:
– Identifying the needs of exsisting and/or potential customers.
– Forecasting when these needs will arise
– Determining what percentage of the total market could be won over a given period.
– The size of the achievable market share.
– Communicating the resulting policy to everyone in the organization
– Determining the resources and facilities required to ensure that the identified needs can be satisfactorily fulfilled.
-Satisfactorily fulfilment means profit for the supplier and enjoyment of a quality service by the customer.
-Marketing is a science and depends on mostly statistics.

Because, being a boss isn’t just about making money. It’s about building confidence, thinking outside of the box, problem solving and being fearless. From understanding money and looking after it, to the nuts and bolts of setting up a business, making the big ideas a reality and using cash for good.
